Who Came Out on Top in the Olympics Trials for Swimming and Track?

The much awaited Rio Olympics 2016, scheduled for August 5, 2016, has attracted thousands of sportsmen and sportswomen from all states here in the U.S. It is expected to be a tight competition as some of the athletes have been preparing for the event for over three years.

On the track, the well-known Tori Bowie and Allyson Felix competed against each other to represent the country in the 200-meter race. Tori Bowie emerged the winner; Felix has to work now even harder to get a spot in the 400-meter race and will not be defending her 200-meter title in the upcoming Olympics games.

Kerron Clement emerged the winner in the men’s 400-meter hurdles on Sunday and rightfully earned a position on the Olympics team for the third time. He won a silver medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and qualified for the finals but unfortunately he did not get the medal. Only time will tell if this time, his dream will come true.

The Olympics Swimming Trials are scheduled for July 30, and the list of the swimmers who will be taking part in the event is already out. Michael Phelps has been chosen to participate in five competitions, 100 and 200 freestyle, 100 and 200 fly, and 200 IM. Ryan Lochte’s name appears six times on the list. He is expected to compete in the 100 and 200 free, 100 fly, 200 back, 200 and 400 IM. However, his qualification to take part in the 400 IM has elicited mixed reactions over the past several months mainly because she has not competed in the event since winning a gold medal in 2012.

Katie Ledecky is expected to take part in the 400 freestyle relay while Missy Franklin has already qualified for the 100 and 200 backstroke and 100 and 200 freestyle. Katie has also being seeded fifth in the 400 IM and 23rd in the 50 freestyle.
